Ms. Marita Baker (Metropolitan Adult Education Program)(Instructional Aide) analyzes situations and routines and offers creative, worthwhile suggestions for improvement. ... Her flexibility and "can-do" attitude inspire others into supporting her. ... Ms. Baker's outstanding interpersonal skills have impressed both staff and students. ... Teachers rely on her dependability, accuracy and efficiency in correcting student work, and high standards.
Rosa Cisneros (Campbell Adult and Community Education) has been a Service Clerk at CACE since it opened almost 3 years ago. She supports the ABE, ASE, and Credit Recovery programs at CACE. She takes initiative, has good judgment, and is a problem-solver. Rosa has a calm and patient demeanor and provides outstanding customer service to students and faculty. ... Rosa is always willing to roll up her sleeves and take on additional responsibilities.

A crucial component of these training programs (CNA, HHA, and Acute Care) is the hands-on clinical training at a skilled nursing facility. We could not do this without the support and collaboration of a clinical site that is graciously opening its doors to our students and offering a clinical training opportunity. We were extremely pleased when in June 2012 Valley House Rehabilitation Center offered to partner with us and signed the Memorandum of Understanding.
Mary Phillips and the Santa Clara Unified School District IT Team

After the adult education's technology team merged with the districts IT team, and under the coordination and leadership of Mary Phillips and Mark Terrill, our systems are now functioning better than ever before. Mary made it her focus to dramatically improve the way we do business. Our site technicians, Min Chae and Ian Carlo Morales, are knowledgeable, dedicated, hardworking and quick to respond.

Joan Gudmundson (East Side Adult Education Program) not only enriches the lives of our students by her exemplary teaching, but contributes greatly to the success of ESAEP by her professionalism and community spirit. ... Joan quickly became a teacher that was recognized as a leader among other teachers in the Program. Joan has a natural gift for working with other teachers and staff. ... she will be the first to admit her students are her first priority.
Sharon Freitas (Mountain View-Los Altos Adult Education) was described by then director Bob Harris as a "superior teacher." He stated, "Her enthusiasm for learning and sensitivity to the needs of her students is recognized as exemplary by students and staff."... she is always ready to help with suggestions about materials, teaching techniques or ways to help students inside and outside of the classroom.
Katherine "Kitty" Stenson ( Metropolitan Adult Education Program) makes students feel welcome and involved when they join her open-entry class. ...Ms. Stenson keeps students physically active as well as mentally engaged. ... As Curriculum Specialist for the second time, Ms. Stenson motivated the ESL teachers to increase the number of students with paired CASAS scores via a review of CASAS outcome reports. ... This effort also brought Ms. Stenson a Superintendent's "Raising the Bar" Award. ... She serves as a mentor teacher, represents MAEP at both the ESL Network and ALLIES, and coordinates the annual International Day event.
In 2010, Valerie Clifford (Campbell Adult and Community Education) began working at CACE overseeing the CalWORKs program and leading CACE to be the 2012 Community Partner of the year. Most notably, as an instructor in the ABE program, Val attended a CalPRO workshop on Integrated Education and Training. She led the development and teaching of the Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (IBEST) class for ABE students. ... Val also supports the services in the Career Center at CACE.
Janine Sahm (Santa Clara Adult Education) started at SCAE as a student. ... she obtained an adult education teaching credential and is now teaching seven classes which include Drawing, Water Color Painting, Acrylic and Oil Painting, and Block Printmaking. She also teaches Fencing All Levels and Fencing Pedagogy which is a certification program that professionally trains fencing instructors. Janine also teaches for CACE. Janine has a flare for art, movement, and ... taking on responsibilities.
